Fun Fun Fun - that's what Agility at Dog Training Ireland is all about.
Whether you are a beginner or someone who has decided to take it to the next level and try your hand at competition there will be a course for you.
Introducing Agility with Derek
Derek began his formal training career with Dog Training Ireland in 2006. He completed all of our courses and workshops and progressed to competition Agility
in 2008. "Red" his 24 month old red merle collie working collie has been competing since he was 18 months and has been doing extremely well considering his young years.
Derek is currently studying his Certificate in Agility Training with the Companion Animal Sciences Institute. This is a 1 year in-depth and advanced study of the behaviours
required to run Competition Agility. The course instructor is Angelica Steinker, M.Ed., CDB, C.C.B.C., CDBC.

Derek's well structured but fun style of teaching has become extremely popular with the recent Thursday night Agility courses. His in-depth understanding of learning theory
and canine body language ensures that his courses are based on a solid understanding of training and canine behaviour. So whether you want to just have some fun or feel you
would like to progress into competition we are sure these courses will not disappoint you.
The courses run on a Sunday, however, sometimes competitions also run on a Sunday. Courses consist of 6 sessions, but these may not be continuous if an Agility competition falls
during the 6 weeks. Normally competitions are scheduled well in advance by organisers (not Dog Training Ireland). Attendees can also transfer a maximum of 1 class out of their
six weeks onto a later course if they cannot attend for any reason.
Notification will be given as early as possible of breaks in the schedule here on the website, usually at time of booking. However, to be sure please check this page each Sunday
morning for notice of any schedule change before setting out.
Agility Dog Club
Dogs that have completed Agility Level 1 and Level 2 can then be invited to participate in Dog Training Ireland’s Agility Dog Club. Dogs that are invited to participate will need to pass a basic assessment to gain access to Dog Club. Dog Club members will receive support when registering their dogs for competition. Dog Club runs at 1pm each Sunday and allows dogs to attend and practice regularly without having to book onto a course. Payment is per class given on the day of arrival and no pre booking is necessary. Full details and Dog Club rules will be issued at time of invitation.
