Information about our vet-referred behaviour clinic.

At Dog Training Ireland we offer a full Behaviour Clinic Service. This covers all behavioural issues that people experience with their dogs. Some examples of the type of problems we help owners with are:

  • Aggression towards people
  • Aggression towards other dogs
  • Separation Related Problems
  • Destruction
  • Toileting Issues
  • Excessive Barking

We receive excellent feedback from our clients and we are referred to by many veterinary practices in Dublin and beyond. Our behaviour work is based on sound scientific and proven methods. We work with each client in order to create practical and achievable Behaviour Modification Plans to ensure success. We provide support throughout and follow up practical training appointments are available should they be needed.

We adhere to the following structure for our behavioural cases.

  1. After first contact either by phone or email, the client is emailed our in depth Assessment Form to complete and return via email. They will also receive our Veterinary Referral Form.
  2. Prior to starting any behaviour work the client's vet must complete the veterinary referral form and forward the dog's medical history. This is to identify any possible medical causes for the behaviour.
  3. Once our behaviourist reviews the assessment form, veterinary report and medical history. Either a or b follows:

    1. Assessment of the Dog without the client present - the dog stays at our training centre for a half day for assessment.

      Possible recommendations after Assessment:

      • Full Behavioural Consultation with the family in our dedicated consultation room at the training centre.
      • Daycare with specific behaviour modification.
      • Training Classes and/or Daycare.

      OR if there is no need for an assessment

    2. A Full Behavioural Consultation (2 hours) with the family in our dedicated consultation room at the training centre. This comprises of history taking, diagnosis and construction of the behaviour modification plan. A full detailed report including individual training plan is provided within 1 week of the appointment.

Half-Day Assessment at our training centre including:
  • Summary Report
  • Action Plan

Full Behavioural Consultation including:
  • One-to-one consultation with the entire family for 2 hours
  • Comprehensive Report & Training Plan
  • 1 month back up support via phone or email
Please Note: Additional time over 2 hours will be charged at €50 per half hour or part of

Pet Insurance

Referred Behaviour cases from your vet to Dog Training Ireland are covered under some pet insurance policies subject to the policy's terms and conditions.
