Introduction to Canine Nutrition

Learn to understand the nutritional requirements of dogs.

This short course is designed for pet owners and pet care professionals who have an interest in developing an in-depth understanding of canine nutrition.

"Introduction to Canine Nutrition" will help the learner to understand the nutritional requirements of dogs in different conditions and at different life stages, to be able to critically evaluate canine diets, to develop a knowledge of the canine digestive system and to understand how nutrition impacts canine behaviour and other aspects of canine health.

• Unit 1- Canine Digestive System
• Unit 2 - Nutrients

• Unit 3 - Feeding Dogs (evaluating and developing different diets)
• Unit 4 - Foods Dangerous to Dogs
• Unit 5 - Food and Canine Behaviour
• Unit 6 - Nutrition for Special Dietary Considerations

This course will run over 20 hours and there are three optional assignments covering aspects of course content.

Unlike many other canine nutrition courses, this one is not connected with any commercial dog food company and as such is unbiased and independent.

Students must have access to the internet in order to fully participate in this course. Access to a dog or dogs is not necessary.
